Every year, contemporary art dealers, galleries, and art & music aficionados gather at the artistic oasis known as Art Basel Miami to behold the hottest in contemporary art. This year attendees will be captivated by “Art Assault”, a charity art exhibit featuring one-of-a-kind art guitars that will take place at the stylish Gibson Guitar Showroom located at 180 NE 39th St. Suite #200 in Miami. By merging music with visual art and designer embellishments, this exhibition promises to rock the ears, eyes and minds of everyone present.

The centerpiece of the event features Kramer Assault 211FR guitars as the canvas upon which 11 celebrated artists will embellish with their own artistic modifications. They have been encouraged to transform their instrument in any way they wish, the result of which will be a collection that is visually fresh. The line-up of artists includes art superstars such as Michael Lau, Nakanari, Pete Fowler, Christian Jacobs (Yo Gabba Gabba), 123Klan, Matt Waldman (Nooka), Camilla d’Errico, Ashley Wood, Long Vo, Lebo, and Oscar-winning actor/artist Jeff Bridges. This medley of artistic styles and influences brings together artists to celebrate the variety of musical and visual artistry that exists today.
Artist Camilla d'Errico shares a tease of her hand-painted Kramer Assault guitar which will be unveiled at the Miami Gibson Guitar Showroom on December 2nd.
Since the show will take much of its essence from the designer toy subculture, the show creators have also partnered with Kidrobot to create a custom 20” Dunny exhibit unlike any other. Each one of the five talented artists involved with designer toys (Jure Gavran, Dave “Outtamymind” Quiles, Tracy Tubera, kaNO, and Rotobox Vinyl Anatomica) will design a particular player of a fictional band, so that when they are brought together, a new "Dunny Superband" will be established on a stage! Kidrobot, along with the show creators and other designer toy sponsors will also showcase innovative toys and sculptures in an effort to share this contemporary subculture with the art-conscious visitors. This exhibition of vinyl toys will feature pieces and support from Kuso Vinyl, myplasticheart, SHON, Jure Gavran, Fury Animals, 123Klan, MaiHiro, and Dragatomi.
While engaging and enlightening, “Art Assault” intends to serve a more virtuous purpose. Once the event is completed, the Assault guitar artwork and custom toys will be auctioned off via an online auction with proceeds benefitting the Gibson Foundation. The Gibson Foundation strives to reinforce our society's future by focusing on projects that help children with education, music and arts, and overall well-being. Gibson, Kramer and the show partners feel it is important to give back to the community while providing entertainment and encouraging artistic creativity.
The reception party that will take place on the evening of December 4th (7 PM-midnight) will be the place to be during Art Basel Miami festivities, with a live band performance by Fancy Me Yet and other acts, including Miami DJ Mr. Pauer. Other sponsors who have contributed to allow the overall vision, excitement and charitable nature of the show include Juxtapoz Magazine, Capcom, Bento Café, Monster Energy, One Natural Experience (O.N.E.), Reign, bluemotion, Vinylpulse, One Day Masterpieces, Fábrika and Tito’s Handmade Vodka.

"Girls Represent" Recap Erick Scarecrow+Prototype+808orbit+Girl Fest By HaynMade (Event Curator)
“Girls Represent,” held on Friday evening on November 5th, was surely an evening to remember. The event debuted Erick Scarecrow’s Soopa Maria Wet-Suit Maguma Hawaii Exclusive figure at Prototype’s Ala Moana Shopping Center store location. “Girls Represent” also kicked off Girl Fest, a week-long event that promotes positivity and empowerment in women through music, art and education. ESC diehards stood in line ahead of time to guarantee their hands landing on the Maguma figure and nearly 100 spectators stopped by to check out what was going on and/or got their Prototype shopping fix out of their system.
Hawaii’s very own talent also joined hands as Prototype held up their sales. Deejaybetty slammed one mean non-stop remix set which infused hip hop and urban tracks with trance and house beats, ridiculous. In Prototype’s entrance window, Remi Mead slapped up a live painting canvas session, which resulted in one sick piece of art. There were freebies to be given out; ESC prints to the first 8 Maguma figure buying fans and gummy froggies to the first 50 customers who entered Prototype. There were also raffle prizes to be won, which included Remi’s painting, Erick Scarecrow figures and apparel and blindbox figures.
Money from the raffle tickets were donated to a Hawaii worthy cause and a portion of Erick’s shirt sales were donated to Andy from Toysrevil. There was a healthy heaping of people who made the evening a memorable one, and they’re all thanked in the attached video done by one of the event’s curators, HaynMade.
